Upcoming Hikes and other Nature Activities Around DC

We've collected many of nature-related activities going on in the greater DC area in the calendar below. Activities aimed at kids are in blue; volunteer opportunities are in purple, and everything else (hikes, classes, birding, boating...) is in brown. Click on any title to expand it into a summary of the activity.

See below for links to the organizations sponsoring most of these events. Some events may have been entered into this calendar quite a while ago -- it would be wise to confirm that the event is still on. Some events require prior registration, which should be noted in the description.

We generally don't include Meetup events on this calendar, because they get updated too frequently. Check our post on outdoorsy Meetups in the DC area for more options.

Is there a way we can share events with your wonderful blog? Each week, we have a free email with activities at Chesapeake Bay Gateways and Watertrails (www.baygateways.net), many of which are near DC and have been featured on your blog. You can sign up for Chesapeake Trips and Tips at www.friendsofchesapeakegateays.org

We at Locust Grove Nature Center would also like to add events.

On Friday, Feb 12, we are offering an adult program called Wild Love to explore some of nature's more unusual mating systems. We'll be serving light refreshments too!

The program runs from 7:30 - 9 pm and costs $5/person. If interested, please call us at 301-765-8660 or check out www.locustgrovenature.org
